We’re looking for a dedicated and experienced Air & Ocean Freight Supervisor to oversee our freight operations team in Chicago. Reporting directly to the North America CEO, you’ll be responsible for managing people, processes, partners, and performance across both air and sea freight activities.
🌟 What You’ll Do:
👥 Team Management & Leadership
- Lead and manage Chicago’s air and ocean freight teams with professionalism and motivation
- Define responsibilities and goals, conduct performance evaluations, and provide ongoing coaching
- Deliver team training and career development support to elevate service levels
🚛 Freight Operations & Process Optimization
- Oversee all daily freight operations (air & ocean) to ensure timely and compliant cargo movement
- Develop and refine SOPs across booking, customs clearance, transportation, delivery, and exception handling
- Ensure freight documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Monitor transport status and resolve in-transit issues as they arise
📞 Customer Service & Relationship Building
- Maintain strong communication with current clients, gather feedback, and enhance satisfaction
- Support sales efforts by helping develop solutions and pricing for potential and new clients
- Provide tailored service plans for VIP clients or complex logistics projects
🤝 Carrier, Airline & Partner Coordination
- Maintain strong vendor relationships with carriers, airlines, truckers, and brokers
- Participate in contract negotiations to secure competitive pricing and reliable service
- Evaluate suppliers regularly to ensure performance standards are met
💰 Cost Control & Operational Efficiency
- Analyze transport cost structures and propose optimization strategies
- Assist with budgeting, cost analysis, and margin control
- Explore new tools, technologies, or workflow improvements to boost efficiency and profitability
🛡️ Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all operations meet international, U.S. customs, and security regulations
- Update internal procedures to comply with evolving industry standards
- Identify and mitigate operational risks through proactive planning and response measures
📊 Reporting & Business Insights
- Collect and analyze operational data to produce actionable reports
- Share insights with leadership to support strategic decisions and market positioning
- Use metrics to guide team development and drive continuous process improvement
🔍 What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in international logistics, especially in air and ocean freight
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Deep understanding of freight forwarding regulations and best practices
- Hands-on knowledge of freight documentation and customs requirements
- High attention to detail, process optimization, and client satisfaction
- Proficiency in logistics systems and performance analysis
- Fluent in English; Mandarin is a plus
